Ways to Create Balance in Your Life

Your happiness should be your chief aim in life, so make a decision today, to strive for a continual state of happiness. After all, if you are not happy, you can't make anyone else happy at work or at home. Here are some valuable points to help guide you towards your destination.

1. 85% of your happiness comes from your interactions with other people.

Conversely, have you ever noticed how most of your unhappy problems come with 2 legs and hair on top! The key to happiness is to therefore recognise the importance of learning necessary communication skills to help you get along with people.

2. Moderation in all things.

You need balance between your personal life and work, to be a truly happy person. If you are perfectly balanced in life, you feel in control, good about yourself and therefore happy. If you are out of balance, then the reverse applies.

3. Begin with your values.

What's really important to you? What do you really care about as a person? Then ask yourself: am I living life consistent with those values?

4. Determine your ideal situation.

Ask yourself: What am I doing today towards achieving that ideal situation? Recognise that most unhappiness in life and most anger is caused by frustrated expectations. Therefore what steps can you undertake immediately to begin moving closer to what you consider to be your ideal situation.

5. Stress and dissatisfaction arise when your activities and goals on the outside are not congruent with your values.

Being completely integrated as a person, inside and outside, is absolutely essential for maximum performance and happiness. Therefore how can you bring your activities and your goals into a place where they are more consistent with your values?

6. To do more of one thing, you must do less of others.

Decide to create new habits to bring your life more into balance. What should you be doing more of? What should you be doing less of? If in doubt, ask people around you for input. They can often see you better than yourself!

7. Treat your time like money.

How can you best invest your time to achieve maximum satisfaction? Are you investing your time and getting the highest return back in your life? Learn to say NO to people's requests for your time. Say it early and say it often!

8. Set peace of mind as your highest goal. Then organise all your time and life around it.

Peace of mind is the highest human good. When you set peace of mind as your highest goal, you will probably never make another mistake. You will find yourself doing and saying the right things all the time.

9. Learn to recognise and listen to your intuition, your inner voice.

Men and women begin to become great when they begin to listen to their inner voice. That's when you start to become everything you are capable of becoming.

10. The key to balance is just two things - your work and family.

Eliminate outside activities that absorb too much time. Only after you have satisfied the needs of work & family will you feel great about yourself. Work when you work and when with family, be there for them 100% of the time.
